LIKABALI, Aug 17: In a determined move to ensure discipline, accountability and respect for the law, the District Administration of Lower Siang has taken strict action against liquor retail outlets and wine shops found violating prescribed working hours and government-notified dry days.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-Collector of Excise Rujjum Rakshap reiterated that compliance with the Arunachal Pradesh Excise Act, 1993 is not merely a regulatory requirement but a responsibility towards the health, safety and well-being of society. “By enforcing the law firmly, the Administration has sent out a strong message that no violation will be tolerated,” he stated.

During the enforcement drive, 24 liquor outlets were penalised while 14 premises were temporarily sealed to ensure strict compliance with the Act and rules. Officials said the action underscores the government’s commitment to transparency, fairness and justice.
The operation was carried out by a dedicated Excise team led by Kojar Nake, Superintendent of Tax, Excise & Narcotics, Lower Siang, whose vigilance and commitment ensured effective implementation of the Collector’s orders.
The Administration emphasized that every business and individual has a duty to honour the laws of the land. It further appealed to all stakeholders to work collectively towards building a law-abiding, healthy and progressive Lower Siang district.
