NAHARLAGUN, Aug 19: In a swift breakthrough, the ICR Naharlagun Police successfully solved a blind theft case reported from Karsingsa, recovering a licensed firearm and stolen property within a week.
On August 10, 2025, Banderdewa Police Station received an FIR from Miss Yaro Taksing (38), resident of Karsingsa, alleging that unknown miscreants had breached her boundary wall and stolen a .32 mm licensed pistol and one LPG cylinder. Acting on the complaint, a case was registered under BDW PS Case No. 61/25 U/S 331(2)/305(a) BNS and endorsed to SI Koj Tada for investigation.
Considering the seriousness of the crime, particularly the theft of a licensed firearm, the Officer-in-Charge, Banderdewa PS, constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the overall supervision of Dr. Nyelam Nega, APPS, Superintendent of Police, ICR Naharlagun.

Following sustained investigation, on August 17, 2025, the SIT—comprising SI Koj Tada, HC T. Bomdom, HC C. Acha, HC K. Aka, and Ct. R. Tsering—apprehended the accused, Gichik Tasuk (26), resident of Upper Dobam, Karsingsa. During interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement, leading to the recovery of the stolen licensed pistol and LPG cylinder.
The successful detection of the case within a short span of time has been hailed as a testament to the efficiency, dedication, and professionalism of ICR Naharlagun Police.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Nyelam Nega commended the efforts of the investigating team while urging citizens to remain vigilant. He emphasized the importance of active public cooperation in maintaining peace, safety, and security across the Capital Region.
