PASIGHAT, Aug 19: The District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting, chaired by East Siang Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani, IAS, on Tuesday reviewed the progress of major ongoing schemes, infrastructure projects, and state and central flagship programmes being implemented by various departments in the district. The meeting was held at the DC’s Conference Hall.
Reviewing the monthly District Development Report submitted by departments, DC Jiwani assessed progress across key development indicators, including law and order. She emphasized the need for close inter-departmental coordination in project execution and directed implementing agencies to regularly update the concerned user departments on the status of projects.

Stressing on proper upkeep and optimum utilization of government assets, Jiwani said that infrastructure and facilities created under various schemes must serve their intended purpose and directly benefit citizens. She urged Heads of Departments (HoDs) to adopt innovative initiatives and implement ideas that align with the vision of both the central and state governments.
The DC also underscored the importance of revenue generation from government and public assets to ensure long-term sustainability of projects. “Every asset created, from public infrastructure to libraries, must be optimally utilized to benefit the target beneficiaries. For this, we need to reorient our approach with proactive and innovative measures that meet citizens’ expectations,” she stated.

Directing departments to take proactive steps in addressing issues raised during the meeting, Jiwani also highlighted the role of each department in ensuring holistic development of the district.
