ITANAGAR,Aug 29: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inaugurated the new office building of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in presence of Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, local legislator Techi Kaso, Itanagar Mayor, Chief Secretary, APPSC Chairperson and members, officials of the Commission and officials from PWD.
Congratulating the Commission on the new state-of-the-art infrastructure, Khandu expressed satisfaction over the design and quality of work. He especially lauded the PWD (people with disability) friendly set-up of the entire building.
The building consists of 18 examination halls with a capacity to accommodate more than 1600 candidates besides several interview rooms, office chambers and other requisite facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Khandu lauded the current Commission under Chairperson Prof (Dr) Pradip Lingfa for successfully conducting this year’s APPSCCE and declaring the results within 72 hours recommending 140 candidates for job placement in various posts of the state civil services. This, he said, is a major boost to the image and confidence of the Commission, particularly after the fiasco that stalled the functioning of the Commission for a prolonged period of time.
“Despite the challenges, the new Commission stood up to the occasion and completely overhauled itself and today has regained the confidence of the educated youth,” he said.
Since August 2, 2024, Khandu informed, 245 candidates were selected for various posts through 10 examinations of various departments. Further, recruitment process for about 277 posts is ongoing.

“We have learnt our lesson. Now we must not repeat it or leave a chance for its recurrence. We have seen how much our youths had to suffer,” Khandu asserted.
Reiterating that with new districts, divisional, zonal and administrative centres being set up, the state government is committed to provide sufficient manpower to each, he informed that several posts have been already created for this.
He emphasized on the need to have a calendar of examinations set by the Commission for each year in advance. To facilitate this, he called upon all concerned departments to submit their requisitions to the Commission well on time.
Khandu also informed that a 2-day standing committee of chairpersons of all state public service commissions of the country will be hosted by Arunachal Pradesh in October next at Ziro in Lower Subansiri.
