ITANAGAR, Nov 1: In a major success against the drug trade, the ICR Naharlagun Police have busted a heroin trafficking racket and registered a case under the NDPS Act (BDW PS Case No. 74/2025 U/S 21(b)/27/29 NDPS Act). The operation was carried out late on the night of 31st October 2025 at Banderdewa Checkgate, following precise intelligence input from the Crime Intelligence Unit, PHQ, relayed by Shri Shivendu Bhusan, IPS, SP (Crime).

As per Police, a red-coloured Hyundai Grand i10 (Regn. No. AR01K-4291) suspected of ferrying narcotic drugs from Assam towards Arunachal Pradesh was intercepted after an alert police team from Banderdewa PS, led by S.I. S.K. Singh and supported by CRPF personnel of B/138 Bn., laid a well-coordinated trap.
During the operation, two suspects were apprehended — Yora Tacho (24) of Gandhi Market, Itanagar, and Yora Tate (23) of Bank Tinali, Itanagar. Upon conducting a detailed search, police recovered 95.40 grams of suspected heroin, packed in two soap cases and 47 plastic vials, along with a small amount of cash and the vehicle used in the trafficking.

The seized contraband and the vehicle have been taken into custody. Both accused were arrested on the spot, and further investigation is underway to unearth the larger network and supply chain behind the consignment,stated a release.
