ITANAGAR, Oct 31: The Hockey Arunachal has announced its participation in the nationwide celebration marking 100 years of Indian Hockey — a century of glory, grit, and gold.
Joining Hockey India’s national campaign titled “Seven Days to History: India Counts Down to 100 Years of Hockey Glory,” Hockey Arunachal will host a series of statewide celebratory matches and community events on November 7, 2025, to honour India’s hockey legacy and the State’s growing contribution to the sport.

“This is a proud moment for every hockey lover in Arunachal,” said Dr. Gumjum Haider, President of Hockey Arunachal. “Our participation reflects the growing enthusiasm for hockey in the State and our commitment to nurturing young talent for the next century of Indian hockey.”
The celebration will take place across all affiliated district units of Hockey Arunachal from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, featuring school children, players, veterans, and hockey enthusiasts. The day aims to ignite passion for the game and showcase the State’s dedication to national sporting excellence.

The centenary marks India’s remarkable journey since joining the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in 1925, a legacy that brought home 8 Olympic Golds, 1 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals. From the golden era of 1928–1959 to the revival witnessed at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, the milestone stands as a testament to India’s enduring hockey spirit.
