Balek Secondary School Upgradation Demand Revived; Delegation Meets CM Pema Khandu After 2023 Assurance

PASIGHAT, Aug 10: A delegation of the Balek Secondary School Upgradation Demand Committee, formed under the aegis of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration Committee of Balek Secondary School-2023, met Chief Minister Pema Khandu and renewed the long-pending demand for upgrading the historic school to the Higher Secondary level.

The delegation was led by Organising Secretary Tobom Dai and included Bogong-1 ZPM Olom Moyong, Bogong Banggo Kebang Secretary Onong Perme, ABK East Siang Unit President Shyamak Ering, along with several alumni of the institution. The delegation met the Chief Minister in the presence of State BJP President Kaling Moyong.

During the meeting, the delegation apprised the Chief Minister of the longstanding demand and reminded him of his public commitment to upgrade the institution during the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Balek Secondary School in 2023, where he had attended as the Chief Guest.

Established in 1946, Balek Secondary School is among the oldest and pre-Independence-era educational institutions in Arunachal Pradesh. The institution has played a significant role in providing education to generations of students from the region.

Despite the Chief Minister’s assurance in 2023, the proposed upgradation has not yet materialised, reportedly due to certain technicalities and procedural issues.

The delegation urged the Chief Minister to intervene and facilitate the early resolution of the pending issues so that the school can finally be upgraded to the Higher Secondary level.

The delegation expressed hope that the government would take the necessary steps to fulfil the commitment made during the school’s Platinum Jubilee and strengthen the historic institution with higher-level educational facilities.
