MEBO , Mar 10: Mebo Police Station, East Siang District In a major breakthrough in Tiger Poaching Case reported on 24th Feb, 2023 near Arunachal-Assam border, an accomplice in tiger killing and smuggling of tiger skin was arrested in a joint operation of Arunachal Forest, Police and Assam Forest Dept. from Mebo, East Siang District.
The arrested person has been taken under the custody of Sadiya Forest Range, Doomdooma Forest Division, Assam.
Earlier, on 24th Feb last, in the same Wildlife Crime Case, a person was caught red-handed with tiger skin, bones and other articles and was arrested under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The Chief Wildlife Warden of Arunachal Pradesh had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case to apprehend persons involved as the tiger was reportedly killed in snow clad region of Arunachal Pradesh. Further investigation in the case is being carried out jointly by SIT of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam Forest Department.
