ITANAGAR, July 1: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) – Arunachal Pradesh has announced its commitment to providing free water, electricity, free medical facilities up to Rs 10 lakhs, and world-class education if they secure a majority in the upcoming State Assembly Election in 2024.

During a press conference at the press club on Saturday, AAP State General Secretary Toko Nikam informed the media that the party intends to field candidates in all 60 assembly constituencies and two parliamentary constituencies. Nikam further stated that if elected, AAP would repeal the controversial Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 2014 and the Arunachal Pradesh District Based Entrepreneurs and Professionals (Incentives, Development & Promotional) Rules 2015.

Respecting the freedom of religion, the AAP General Secretary also mentioned that the party would repeal the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 1978 and resolve the Tawang Church construction issues within six months of forming the government in the state.

Addressing the recent issue of the APPSC cash-for-job scam, Nikam assured that the party would resolve the APPSC fiasco within six months and abolish the Arunachal Pradesh State Service Selection Board to eradicate corrupt practices. In honor of the late Gyamar Padang, a whistleblower, the party intends to erect a Statue of Honesty as a tribute to his contribution, he added.

Nikam emphasized that the party’s priorities include constructing a world-class city road in the Itanagar Capital Region, implementing a blanket ban on out-of-turn promotions in various departments, and ensuring all-weather road connectivity to district headquarters. AAP also aims to establish a fully functioning Lok Ayukta in the state, provide world-class medical facilities at TRIHMS (Tomu Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences), regularize casual laborers and LCs serving in various departments for the last  12 to 20 years and above, enhance wages for GBs (Gaon Burahs), and construct village council courts in accordance with AFR 1945. The party plans to create the 3rd and 4th AAPBn (Arunachal Pradesh Armed Police Battalion to generate employment opportunities for the youth and scrap the National Pension Schemes, restoring the Old Pension Schemes.

When questioned about the financial burdens associated with these promises, Nikam assured that the party would create policies to judiciously use the funds provided by the central government and the state tax share.
