Itanagar, July 1: The National Doctor’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Hotel Waii International in Itanagar, where Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein graced the occasion. The event aimed to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of doctors to society and create awareness about their vital role in saving lives and promoting public health. This year’s theme, “Celebrating Resilience and Healing Hands,” highlighted the exceptional efforts of medical professionals.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein expressed his deep appreciation for the senior doctors in the state and the exceptional healthcare facilities provided by premier hospitals like RK Mission Hospital and the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS). He emphasized that the state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern equipment available at TRIHMS are a matter of pride for Arunachal Pradesh. Mein further reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare delivery system by investing in infrastructure and enhancing the capacity of medical staff.

The Deputy Chief Minister underscored the priority given by the Arunachal Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu Sarkar, to the healthcare and education sectors. He assured the medical fraternity of continuous support from the government, acknowledging their significant contributions to creating a healthy society. Additionally, Mein pledged the necessary additional funds for the completion of the Indian Medical Association House (Arunachal Branch).

Highlighting the importance of the safety and security of medical professionals, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein mentioned the enactment of “The Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Medical Service Personnel and Medical Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss of Property) Act 2019.” He urged the citizens of Arunachal Pradesh to support and empathize with the challenges faced by medical personnel in their noble efforts to save lives.

Expressing his gratitude for being a part of the Doctor’s Day celebration, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein called upon all medical professionals to work together diligently towards elevating the healthcare delivery system of the state to new heights.

During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also felicitated senior doctors and the Ayang Foundation of East Siang District for their remarkable dedication and outstanding contributions to providing healthcare services to the underprivileged population of the state.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Alo Libang, Director of TRIHMS, Dr. Moji Jini, and distinguished senior doctors from the state, among other esteemed guests.
