Guwahati, July 6: Assam Down Town University (ADTU) has taken a significant step towards promoting quality education in the North Eastern Region of India by introducing its highly anticipated B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme. In a move that underscores its commitment to producing skilled professionals in the agricultural sector, ADTU is establishing the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
ADTU, a private sector university under down town Charity Trust, has been at the forefront of providing affordable and excellent education since its inception in 2010. Recognizing the need to develop human resources capable of addressing the changing global landscape, ADTU is expanding its academic offerings to include agriculture.
The four-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture degree, commencing in the upcoming academic year of 2023-2024, will equip students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the agricultural industry. ADTU aims to produce exceptional graduates who will assume leadership roles and contribute to the advancement of India’s agricultural economy.
Dr. Bidyut Chandan Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) in Jorhat, will be the Chief Guest at the launch ceremony on July 6, 2023, symbolizing this historic occasion. Dr. Deka’s distinguished presence highlights the significance of this project and further strengthens the cordial working relationship between ADTU and AAU.
In addition to the initiation of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture course, ADTU and AAU will solidify their commitment to agricultural education, research, and development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This substantial agreement will pave the way for future collaboration and synergies between the two universities, fostering innovation and excellence in the agricultural field.
