KALAKTANG/TAWANG, Jan 19: In a momentous occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated two crucial infrastructure assets in West Kameng & Tawang district along with 33 other developmental project on 19 January last, marking significant progress in bolstering connectivity and strategic defense capabilities in the region.
Amartala-II Bridge Inauguration:
The Amartala-II bridge, located at Km 50.104 on the Orang-Kalaktang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga (OKSRT) road, was constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Dorjee Wangdi Kharma, MLA Kalaktang-Rupa Assembly constituency , and it witnessed the presence of local dignitaries, government officials, and military personnel.
Constructed by the 1441 Bridge Construction Company of BRO under the command of Lt Col Yogesh Paliwal, the Amartala-II bridge boasts a 50-meter span and PSC Box Girder specifications. This vital infrastructure project not only provides an alternative route to the B-C-T road axis leading to the border town of Tawang but also promises to boost the socio-economic development of the entire West Kameng region. From a strategic standpoint, the bridge serves as a crucial asset for the induction of defense assets towards the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh.
Jung Bridge Unveiling:
In another significant event on the same day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated the Jung Bridge, situated at Km 3.66 on the Jung-LGG-Mukto-Teli (J-L-M-T) road. The Chief Guest for this inauguration was Khoda Oniya, Circle Officer Jung, Distt Tawang. The ceremony witnessed the presence of local dignitaries, government officials, and military representatives.
The construction of the Jung Bridge, featuring a 35-meter span and PSC Box Girder specifications, commenced in February 2020 and concluded in December 2023. This infrastructure gem enhances alternative connectivity on the B-C-T road axis towards Tawang and is poised to have a positive impact on the socio-economic landscape of the Jung-Mukto region. Furthermore, the Jung Bridge holds strategic importance for the induction of defense assets along the Line of Actual Control, particularly along the borders with Bhutan and China in Arunachal Pradesh.
