LATHAO, June 26: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Drug De-addiction cum Rehab Centre in Lathao, District Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a workshop and rally focused on the theme “The Evidence is Clear, Invest in Prevention.”
Organized by Assam Rifles under the aegis of Spearcorps, the event aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse among the community. More than 300 participants, including local government officials, community leaders, students, teachers, and representatives from various organizations, gathered at Lathao Circle for the occasion. The Circle Officer of Lathao, GPC members, OC Assam Rifles from Namsai, and the Medical Officer In-Charge of Lathao Primary Health Centre were among the distinguished speakers who emphasized the importance of early intervention in combating the spread of drugs.
The event commenced with a workshop where speakers highlighted the detrimental effects of drug abuse and the critical need for preventive measures. Attendees, including inmates from the Rehab Centre, pledged their commitment to creating a drug-free environment. A foot rally followed, featuring slogans and displays advocating against drug culture, reinforcing the community’s resolve to eradicate drug abuse.
