ITANAGAR, Sep 13:  In a significant breakthrough, the Capital Police Team, led by SI Samuel Ngupok, Ct Sandeep Yadav, Ct Lobsang Gyatslan, and L/Ct Arty Degu with assistance from District Detection Team under the supervision of SP Capital has successfully apprehended the alleged child rapist who had been evading trial for the past six years.

Accused Rajesh, also known as Gour Kishor Singh, was arrested in Guwahati, Assam, today at approximately 1400 hours.

The accused was involved in Itanagar WPS Case No- 49/16, registered under Section 376(2)(i) of the IPC, read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The case is currently under trial before the Special Judge (POCSO) in Yupia. Despite being initially arrested and released on bail, Rajesh had been on the run since 2018.

The Capital Police Special Team, under the supervision of SP Capital, worked tirelessly to track down the fugitive. Utilizing both technical and human intelligence, they managed to locate Rajesh in Guwahati. This arrest marks the second major success for the team, having previously apprehended Majibur Rahman, who had been absconding for 11 years.
