NAHARLAGUN, 15 Sep: In a decisive move to combat the growing threat of drug trafficking in the region, the Naharlagun Police successfully apprehended a suspect for heroin possession as part of their ongoing Operation Dawn.

 The operation was led by Inspector K. Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, with a dedicated team comprising HC Taki Moya, Ct Sanu T Raaj, Ct Tadar Aneek, and Ct Tadar Kabung. The effort was conducted under the direct supervision of SP Naharlagun,  Mihin Gambo.

Acting on tip off, the police intercepted a Tata Nexon vehicle (AR01Q-0633) at Dokum Colony, Naharlagun, on the evening of 14th September last. A meticulous search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 12.6 grams of heroin concealed within a soap cage hidden inside footwear. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old  Rajen Brahma, a resident of Basbaari village, Kajigaon, Kookrajhar, Assam, was immediately arrested at the scene.

A criminal case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Naharlagun Police Station, and investigations are ongoing to trace the network behind the supply of illegal drugs in the region. This arrest is part of the larger Operation Dawn initiative, which aims to dismantle drug trafficking operations in Naharlagun and its surrounding areas.

The police have called upon the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing any relevant information that may assist in their anti-drug operations.
