DARAK, Oct 14: At a time when the world is bearing the brunt of heat due to the Climate change, a step towards maintaining ecological balance may be considered a huge stride towards saving the blue planet. Arunachal Pradesh in general and West Siang District in particular has not remained unaffected from the ramifications of Climate Change.

                Along the lines, the Eco Tourism cum Angling Festival 3.0 was organised at Darak, West Siang District Arunachal Pradesh on 12 and 13 October 2024 with the sole objective to aware the people about the importance of the need to preserve and maintain the ecological balance of a region thereby contributing to fight the menace of Global Warming and save the Planet Earth.

                The Eco Tourism cum Angling Festival 3.0 Darak was sponsored by Shri Pesi Jilen, HMLA  27 Liromoba Assembly Constituency and organized under the aegis of Lodu Ao Welfare Society in collaboration with Young Mission Adventure Club.  This was the third edition of the Festival and the HMLA has assured to make it a calendar event  under State government.

                While talking to the media, Shri Lava Potom, President Lodu Ao Welfare Society and Shri Nyakar Raksap, Organizing Chairmain thanked Shri Pesi Jilen HMLA 27 Liromoba AC for his far sighted vision to preserve the environment and promote rural tourism within his constituency.

                Earlier, on 12th October 2024, the Festival was inaugurated by Shri Pesi Jilen as Chief Guest and Miss Mamu Hage (IAS), DC West Siang Aalo as Guest of honour in presence of Shri Prince Kumar (IAS) Asst. Commissioner, Kamba and Shri Bajap Jilen, President KKWS and Shri Kali Bogo, GS KKWS both as special guests. Addressing the public of Darak, Shri Pesi Jilen exhorted the people to refrain from using explosives and untraditional way of fishing in the region to preserve fish and attract anglers from all over the world in the next edition of the festival.

                At the concluding ceremony on 13th October 2024, Shri Romjir Raksap, General Secretary, Lodu Ao Welfare Society cum Organising Secretary of the said festival informed that the number of Anglers from all over the world was 215 earlier, however, due to the inclement weather the number of Anglers was only 37 (Male 26 and Female 11) . The winners of the male and female categories were Shri Mindak Karcho and Smty. Babom Bogo Poyom respectively. He also informed that without the support of the people of Darak, the event would not  have been a success. The Sibu and Siik rivers of Darak has substantial numbers of endangered Golden Mehseer.
