RGUSU Alumni Donate Books to Indigenous School -‘Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko’

MWYA , Jan 7: Demonstrating their commitment to community service, the 2017 batch of the Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union (RGUSU) made a eloquent contribution to the Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko, an indigenous tribal school in Mwya village,Keyi Panyor District by donating nearly 200 novels and educational books.

The donation is part of the RGUSU alumni’s annual tradition of giving back to society during their reunions. Neelam Gaap, this year’s Reunion Chairman, highlighted the importance of their efforts. “Our reunion is not just about celebration; it’s an opportunity to make a positive impact. We focus on supporting local initiatives, whether it’s education, environmental conservation, or other areas of service,” Gaap stated.

The donation was further supported by Likha Pehi, the owner of Holy Christ School Mission School Nirjuli, who contributed a significant portion of the books. Gaap extended heartfelt gratitude to Pehi for his generosity and collaboration in the initiative.

During their visit, the RGUSU alumni interacted with the students and faculty, fostering a sense of community and encouragement. The books were received by Tarh Tuma, a Language Teacher at Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko, who expressed deep appreciation for the gesture.

“The Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko is not just a school; it’s a cornerstone for preserving the cultural heritage and traditional knowledge of the Nyishi people. Contributions like these empower our students and ensure the continuation of our rich legacy,” Tuma remarked.

The initiative underscores the RGUSU alumni’s dedication to uplifting local communities and preserving indigenous traditions through meaningful acts of service.
