NAMSAI, Feb 23 – Following the recent boycott of Statehood Day by a group of individuals from the Moran community in Lekang, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) met with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Namsai and submitted a representation demanding immediate legal action against those allegedly involved in anti-state activities and unlawful protests.

AAPSU strongly condemned the boycott and unauthorized demonstrations, calling them a direct attack on the sovereignty and integrity of Arunachal Pradesh. The student body alleged that these actions were orchestrated with malicious intent to disturb peace and create unrest in the state.

During the meeting, AAPSU demanded legal action against Manoj Kumar Moran, Hurojit Moran, Bogen Baruah, Sujit Moran, Sarat Neog,Bimal Neog,Deny Moran,Kushal Moran who were allegedly responsible for organizing and participating in the disruptive activities.

According to the union, these individuals incited anti-state sentiments, spread misinformation, and attempted to disturb public peace by boycotting the official Statehood Day event and engaging in unlawful protests.

“Statehood Day is a historic occasion that marks Arunachal Pradesh’s journey of progress and development. The deliberate boycott of such a significant event is an insult to the people and the sacrifices made by our forefathers. Moreover, such actions raise serious concerns about potential external influences seeking to destabilize the state,” the representation stated.

AAPSU further criticized the protests for being conducted without proper authorization, stating that they caused public inconvenience and fear among residents. The union warned that such actions could fuel communal tensions and disrupt Arunachal Pradesh’s peace and unity.

AAPSU has urged the state government to invoke the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (APUAPA) along with other relevant legal provisions to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those responsible. The union stressed that swift and strict action is necessary to deter future anti-state activities.

“Failure to act against such elements will encourage further unlawful activities in the future. It is imperative that the state government takes immediate steps to safeguard Arunachal Pradesh’s peace and security,” AAPSU stated.
