Arunachal Launches ‘Mission Shikshit Arunachal 2029’ to Transform Education System

ITANAGAR, Mar 7: The Government of Arunachal Pradesh today unveiled ‘Mission Shikshit Arunachal 2029’, a transformative three-year roadmap aimed at overhauling the state’s education system. The initiative was presented in the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly by Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona and received overwhelming support from ministers and stakeholders.
The mission focuses on learning outcomes, teacher training, school infrastructure, and governance, addressing long-standing issues such as teacher-student imbalance, inadequate facilities, and poor learning achievements. The initiative is a result of six months of extensive groundwork, led by Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona with strong backing from Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu.
A Vision for Systemic Reform
The roadmap emerged from the Chintan Shivir cum Education Conclave 2024, where priority areas were identified. Following the conclave, the Education Minister and his team visited every district in the state, conducting surveys and engaging with local communities to assess the on-ground reality.
Emphasizing the seriousness of the mission, Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona stated,
“After every symposium, we often see no follow-up. But this time, it was different. We translated discussions into this concrete roadmap. Education is the foundation of progress, and we must confront our weaknesses head-on. This is not just a transformation but a metamorphosis. Deadlines amuse me, and this three-year deadline will be defined by the efforts we put in together.”
