PASIGHAT, May 11: In a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, Tanyong Nokar has made history by becoming the state’s first National Assistant Referee after successfully clearing the All India Football Federation (AIFF) National Referee Examination 2025.
Hailing from Ramsing village under Jengging circle in Upper Siang district, Nokar is the son of Shri Yaksung Nokar. An academically accomplished individual, he holds a B.A. and M.A. in History and has been actively serving as a referee since 11 November 2021.
Nokar cleared the national-level physical and written examinations held on 25 March 2025 in Gwalior. He then participated in the practical and viva voce conducted during the U-17 Youth League 2024–25 in Guwahati from 1st to 5th May 2025. Upon successful completion, he was promoted to Level 5 – National Referee Level under the AIFF.

The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) extended its heartfelt congratulations to Nokar. “Big congratulations from the football fraternity of Arunachal. Wishing him great success,” the APFA stated in an official message on Sunday.
