NAMSAI, Sept 18: A serious case of sexual harassment has surfaced at the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), Namsai, where a final-year B. Pharmacy student has accused her lecturer, Mr. Prasenjit Das, of sexually assaulting her.
In her written complaint to the Officer-in-Charge of Namsai Police Station, the victim stated that on 17th September 2025, after seeking clarification on examination matters at the campus, Mr. Das allegedly called her in the evening and asked her to come to his residence under the pretext of assisting her with pending industrial training and thesis work.
Upon reaching his residence, the student alleged that the lecturer made repeated sexual advances, including attempts to kiss and grope her, and even blocked the door to prevent her from leaving, pressuring her to accompany him into the bedroom. She managed to escape after resisting and immediately informed her friend, who later confronted the accused along with her.

The complaint was formally registered by Namsai Police on 18th September as Case No. 60/25 under Sections 74/75 (I)(i)(ii) BNS. The investigation is currently being led by Sub-Inspector A.K. Pandey.
Meanwhile, the Tai Khamti Youth Organisation (TKYO) has strongly condemned the incident and lodged a separate complaint with the Vice-Chancellor of AUS. Expressing grave concern over the safety and dignity of students—especially female students—on campus, the organisation demanded:
An impartial inquiry against the accused lecturer at the earliest,
Assurance that the victim’s academic and examination results are not compromised,
Strict security measures for students within the University, and
Exemplary disciplinary action as per University rules and relevant laws.

TKYO President Chau Sengkhun Manchey and Vice President (Admin) Chau Sila Longkan urged the University to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and ensure justice, safety, and dignity for all students.
When contacted, AUS authority confirmed that the said Lecturer Mr. Prasenjit Das has been terminated from the service in view of the incident on Thursday.
The shocking allegations have triggered widespread outrage among students and civil society organisations in Namsai, who are closely monitoring the developments to ensure that justice is delivered without delay.
