Major Drug Bust: Two Govt employees Apprehended with suspected Heroin by Itanagar Police

ITANAGAR, July 9:  In a significant operation against narcotics trafficking, police forces in coordination with the CRPF successfully apprehended two individuals involved in drug peddling in the Gohpur area. The operation was led by DySP Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Itanagar, with the assistance of Inspector N Nishant, OC Chimpu PS, Inspector Ongsa Ronrang, ASI Manish Kumar, Lady Constables Inya Gadi and Sita Nacho, Constables Pura Tamo, Marge Lona, and Tsering Bapu, alongside CRPF personnel. The joint effort resulted in the recovery of 27 vials of suspected heroin.

Acting on a reliable tip-off received around 1000 hrs, the team, after briefing SP Itanagar, proceeded to Gohpur for reconnaissance. A strategic trap was laid, and around NH-415 in Gohpur, two individuals Chow Molaping Mansai, currently serving as a constable in the 2nd IRBN,  Itanagar and  Godak Tatak,  currently serving as a caretaker in the APEDA office were apprehended in the presence of Executive Magistrate  Takam Nicholas and local witnesses, stated SP Itanagar  Rohit Rajbir Singh (IPS).

He also informed that the search of Chow Molaping Mansai led to the recovery of 10 plastic vials containing heroin (1.4 grams), 06 empty plastic vials, and 02 metallic foils. Following their statements, a further search of Godak Tatak’s rented house led to the recovery of 17 vials containing heroin (2.5 grams) and one empty vial.

All seized items were properly weighed, packed, and sealed on the spot in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and witnesses. The entire operation was video-recorded to ensure transparency. A case has been registered under Chimpu PS Case No. 48/24 under Sections 21(a)/29 of the NDPS Act, with SI SK Jha assigned to investigate the case.

SP Itanagar  Rohit Rajbir Singh (IPS) emphasized the Capital Police’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes and ensuring community safety. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
