DOIMUKH, Nov 11 – In a swift operation, Doimukh Police uncovered a large-scale vehicle fraud scheme involving the sale of a Mahindra Bolero for Rs. 2,50,000, detaining four suspects at Gumto Check Gate on November 3. Following a tip-off, police intercepted the suspects—led by Mr. Madhurjya Hazarika—who were allegedly attempting to defraud a local resident through a fraudulent vehicle transaction. The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge SI Nako Ribya, alongside SI Gemin Yao, CT Tanong Pabi, and CT Subham Yadav.

The case originated from a complaint lodged by Shri Tana Tagi, a resident of Midpu village, who reported an attempted fraud during the Bolero purchase. Police swiftly registered DMK PS Case No. 144/24 under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Superintendent of Police, Papumpare, Taro Gusar confirmed the operation and stated that ASI M.A. Nur has been appointed as the lead investigator for the case.

Key Evidence and Seized Vehicles

During the initial police remand, several key developments emerged. Statements were recorded from the suspects, and three vehicles linked to the alleged fraud scheme were seized. These included:

  • Mahindra Bolero SLX (white) – Central to the fraudulent transaction, identified by its registration number AS 01 BT 5006 and chassis number MA1PS2GPKF5D51259.
  • Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 (grey)
  • Maruti Suzuki Alto LXI (silver)

The white Bolero, bearing specific identifying details, is central to the investigation as it was allegedly used to deceive the complainant, Shri Tana Tagi. Forensic analysis of the seized vehicles is currently underway as police work to trace all individuals involved in the scam.

Ongoing Investigation and Manhunt for Additional Suspects

As the investigation progresses, police are actively seeking additional suspects potentially linked to this vehicle fraud network. Authorities are examining evidence collected from the vehicles and analyzing the suspects’ statements to establish the extent of their involvement and identify further accomplices. Superintendent Taro Gusar emphasized that the Doimukh Police are committed to a thorough investigation and will continue to pursue justice against those responsible.
