CHANGLANG, Dec 29: In a significant achievement, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Police, has led to the recovery of a massive cache of weapons along the Miao-Vijaynagar axis in Changlang District on 28 December.
The meticulously planned operation involved the deployment of specialized teams equipped with advanced tools such as drones, tracker dogs, and metal detectors. The successful operation resulted in the recovery of ten different types of assault rifles, concealed in the dense forests of the region.
According to sources, the weapons had been hidden by the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) insurgents before their surrender last year. For the past six months, various insurgent groups, including NSCN (IM) and NSCN (KYA), allegedly sought to retrieve the concealed weapons with assistance from ENNG cadres.
The security forces demonstrated unparalleled professionalism during the operation, ensuring the safety of tourists visiting the nearby Namdapha Reserve Forest. The precision and efficiency of the operation prevented the weapons from falling into the hands of insurgents, which could have further destabilized the region.
This recovery marks one of the largest seizures of weapons in the area and highlights the unwavering commitment of Indian security forces to maintaining peace and security in Arunachal Pradesh.
Officials have lauded the success of this operation as a testament to the vigilance, expertise, and dedication of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Arunachal Pradesh Police. Further investigations are underway to trace the origins and intended use of the recovered weapons.
