RGU to Host National Seminar on Indian Knowledge System Under NEP 2020

DOIMUKH, Feb 28:  The Department of Education, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), is set to organize a one-day National Seminar on March 3, 2025, focusing on the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in education as envisioned under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The seminar aims to highlight the rich heritage of India’s ancient knowledge and its relevance in modern education.

The seminar, coordinated by Dr. Sushant Kumar Nayak, has been designed with the following key objectives:

Spreading awareness about Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).

Promoting and preserving indigenous tribal cultural aspects.

Exploring traditional indigenous knowledge in tribal society.

Discussing the relevance of IKS in contemporary contexts.

Sensitizing youth to India’s rich cultural heritage and its significance.

Encouraging the integration of IKS into the curriculum, in line with NEP 2020.

Showcasing best indigenous practices related to environmental conservation, art, craft, music, food, lifestyle, health, and medicine.

The inaugural session will be chaired by Prof. Sushanta Kumar Nayak, Vice-Chancellor of RGU, with Prof. Bharat Kumar Panda from Central University, Odisha, delivering the keynote address. Dr. A.K. Mishra, State Liaison Officer of Arunachal Pradesh, will be physically present, while Prof. Kaushal Kishore will deliver a lecture online.

Around 70 research scholars and teachers are expected to present their research papers, making it a significant platform for academic discussions and cultural insights.

“All arrangements have been made, and we eagerly look forward to welcoming our guests and paper presenters,” stated Prof. P.K. Acharya, Head, Department of Education, RGU.
