AIZAWL, Mar 15: A delegation of the Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP), led by President Likha Tech and Secretary General Leena Taggu, participated in the two-day conference of the North Eastern States Government Employees Federation and Teachers United Forum (NESGETUF) held in Aizawl, Mizoram on March 12 and 13.
The conference brought together representatives of various State Government Employees’ Associations and Federations from across the North Eastern region to deliberate on issues affecting government employees.
Lalyomamiva, Minister for Rural Development of Mizoram, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by Subash Lamba, President, and A. Sreekumar, General Secretary of the All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF).

Addressing the conference, CoSAAP president Likha Tech strongly urged the governments of all North Eastern states to scrap the New Pension System (NPS) and restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), stating that the current system fails to provide adequate economic and social security to employees who devote 30–40 years of service to the government.
He said every employee deserves the assurance of pension and the right to live a dignified and secure life after retirement, in line with the spirit of the Constitution.
Likha Tech also urged the Government of India to implement the 8th Central Pay Commission in its true spirit with special provisions for employees of the North Eastern states, considering the region’s unique geographical challenges and difficult terrain. He further proposed that the North Eastern region be considered for Special Economic Zone status to accelerate development.
Highlighting the contribution of the people of the North East, he said they are peace-loving, hardworking and patriotic, with a strong vision for national progress, particularly under the Act East Policy of the Government of India.
Expressing concern over incidents of racial discrimination faced by people from the North Eastern region in mainland India, he called for collective efforts to eliminate racism and ensure respect, equality and dignity for all citizens.
During the conference, the Forum unanimously resolved to submit a joint representation from all eight North Eastern states to the chairman of the 8th Central Pay Commission before April 30, 2026. It was also decided that employees from the region will participate in a rally scheduled on December 12, 2026 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi under the leadership of AISGEF to demand timely implementation of the pay commission.
The forum further demanded the immediate regularization of all contractual employees working under the governments of the North Eastern states.
